Party & Play Soft Play Safety Rules

Conditions of Entry

Last updated: 7 April 2026

Please read these rules before entering the play areas. These rules are conditions of entry and are designed to help keep Party & Play safe, clean, and enjoyable for all guests.

Policy scope

  • These rules apply to all guests using the soft play, role play, toddler, party, and toilet areas at Party & Play.

  • Children remain the responsibility of their parent, guardian, or carer at all times.

  • Nothing in this policy affects any rights that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

General rules for all areas

  • Adult supervision: All children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Parents, guardians, or carers remain responsible for the behaviour, wellbeing, and safety of the children in their care while on our premises.

  • Follow staff instructions: Please follow all safety signs and staff instructions at all times. Staff may pause or stop play, or ask guests to leave a play area, if they believe anyone is at risk.

  • Footwear: Shoes must be removed before entering any play area. Anti-slip / grip socks must be worn in all play zones by both children and adults.

  • Food and drink: No food, drinks, sweets, or chewing gum are allowed in any play area. Food and drink must only be consumed in designated seating or party areas.

  • Safe play: No running, rough play, pushing, wrestling, or bullying. All guests must play gently, take turns, and be mindful of smaller children.

  • Use equipment properly: Do not climb on netting, railings, exterior panels, barriers, or the outside of any play equipment. Only use designated entrances, exits, steps, and access points.

  • Personal items: Please remove or safely store sharp objects, jewellery, glasses where appropriate, and loose items before play. Pockets should be emptied to avoid injury or damage.

  • Illness and hygiene: Please do not visit if your child, or anyone in your group, has had vomiting or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours. Please tell a member of staff immediately if there is any spill, toileting accident, injury, or sickness.

  • Photography and filming: Please respect the privacy of other families. Do not take photos or videos of other children without consent.

  • Emergency procedures: If the fire alarm sounds or staff instruct you to evacuate, stop play immediately and leave the building by the nearest safe exit. Do not re-enter until staff confirm it is safe to do so.

  • Important legal note: Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Inflatable slide rules

  • Age limit: The inflatable slide is for children aged 3 years and over only. Children under 3 are not permitted to use it.

  • Adults: Adults are not allowed on or inside the inflatable slide except in an emergency.

  • Socks and clothing: Grip socks must be worn at all times. Shoes are not allowed. Remove sharp or hard items before entering.

  • Food and drink: No food, drinks, sweets, or chewing gum on or near the inflatable slide.

  • One at a time: Only one child may slide at a time. The next child must wait until the slide and exit area are completely clear.

  • Slide properly: Always slide feet first and facing forward. Do not slide head first, on your stomach, or while standing.

  • No climbing up the slide: Children must not climb up the slide surface or side walls. Always use the designated steps or stairs to return to the top.

  • Capacity and safe use: Please follow any posted limits, age guidance, and staff instructions. Staff may separate larger and smaller children where needed for safety.

Toddler area rules

  • Age limit: The toddler area is for children under 3 years old only. Older children are not allowed in this area.

  • Close supervision: An adult must supervise at all times and should remain close enough to assist the child immediately.

  • Gentle play only: No running, rough play, or climbing on the outside of toddler equipment.

  • Toys and equipment: Please use toys and soft play equipment gently. Do not throw toys, and do not remove them from the toddler area.

  • Food and drink: No food, drinks, sweets, or chewing gum are allowed in the toddler area.

Play frame and ball pit rules

  • Who can use it: The multi-level play frame and ball pit are for children only. Adults must supervise from outside the structure and should only enter if a child needs help or in an emergency.

  • No climbing on the outside: Do not climb on netting, barriers, or exterior sections of the play frame.

  • Slides inside the frame: Only one child on a slide at a time. Always slide feet first. Do not climb up slides from the bottom.

  • Clear the exit: After sliding, move away from the bottom immediately so the next child can slide safely.

  • Ball pit safety: No jumping or diving into the ball pit from outside. Use the proper entry and exit points. Do not throw balls at other people or out of the pit.

  • No rough play: No pushing, wrestling, or aggressive behaviour anywhere in the play frame or ball pit.

  • Food and drink: No food, drinks, sweets, or chewing gum in the play frame or ball pit.

  • Report hazards: If balls spill out, equipment appears damaged, or there is an accident or spill, please tell a member of staff straight away.

Mini City role play room rules

  • Keep items in the room: All props, toys, and items must stay in the Mini City room and must not be removed.

  • Tidy before leaving: Please return all items to their proper place before leaving the room.

  • Calm play only: No pushing, shouting, running, or chasing in this area.

  • Respect others: Children must play kindly and respectfully with one another at all times.

  • Adult supervision: An adult must stay with children at all times while using the role play room.

  • Small parts warning: Some items may contain small parts. Children under 3 must be closely supervised by a parent or guardian to reduce choking risk.

Small Farm (PYO) rules

  • Items must stay in the area: Do not remove any items from the Small Farm area.

  • Do not put items in the mouth: Nothing from this area should be chewed, sucked, or put in the mouth.

  • Handle gently: Do not pull, force, bend, or push items too hard, as this may damage the equipment or create a hazard.

Montessori toy wall rules

  • Age restriction: Children under 3 must not use the Montessori Toy Wall because small parts may be present and could cause a choking hazard.

  • Adult accompaniment: Children aged 3 and over must be accompanied and supervised by an adult while using this area.

  • Safe use only: No throwing. All pieces must stay within the toy wall area.

  • Do not bite or swallow: Items must not be bitten, chewed, or swallowed.

Party room rules

  • Walking only: No running or horseplay in the party rooms, corridors, or nearby areas.

  • No throwing food: Food fights or throwing food, cake, or table items are not allowed.

  • Door safety: Please keep the party room door closed unless entering or leaving. This helps keep children safe and prevents wandering near the stairs.

  • Stair safety: Walk carefully on the stairs, hold the handrail, and assist young children at all times.

  • Supervision: The hosting adults are responsible for supervising children in the party room and ensuring safe behaviour, including no climbing on furniture.

Toilet rules

  • Young children must be accompanied: Small children should not go to the toilets alone and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

  • Not a play area: No running, shouting, or playing in the toilets.

  • Use properly: Do not climb on sinks, worktops, or toilets.

  • Hygiene: Please flush after use and wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.

  • Keep it clean: No food or drink in the toilets. Please place waste in the bins provided and inform staff if supplies are low or an area needs attention.

General slide rules for non-inflatable slides

  • One at a time: Only one person may use a slide at a time.

  • Slide correctly: Always slide feet first. Do not slide head first or while standing.

  • Do not climb up slides: Children must not climb up a slide from the bottom or stop part way down.

  • Use the proper route: To go again, walk around and use the designated steps or ladder.

  • Clear the bottom quickly: Move away from the slide exit promptly after sliding.

  • Use the correct slide: Children should only use slides that are suitable for their age, size, and the relevant play zone.

Right to refuse play / conditions of entry

  • For the safety of all guests, Party & Play reserves the right to refuse entry, refuse access to equipment, pause play, or ask any person to leave a play area or the premises if these safety rules are not followed.

  • Any action taken will be reasonable and proportionate to the safety risk involved.

  • These rules are in place to help protect children, families, and staff, and to support a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Thank you for helping us keep Party & Play safe for everyone.
